Afternoon tea is one of my FAVOURITE things in the whole wide world. Christmas time is probably my favourite time of year so put the two together and it’s a pretty perfect afternoon!
There are so many amazing places to have afternoon tea in Cumbria and last week I headed to The Leathes Head to try out their festive take on an afternoon tea and, spoiler alert, it was gorgeous!
The Leathes Head is just outside Keswick in the Borrowdale Valley and has the most stunning views (you may even get a brief glimpse of Derwentwater). You can see birds and pheasants and apparently there are even some red squirrels about too!
Cumbria at this time of year is so beautiful- the colours on a clear day are so vibrant and you could see for miles! It was definitely the perfect setting for an afternoon tea!
We had such a warm welcome when we arrived which really set off the afternoon well. We felt so welcomed and at home and there was really friendly atmosphere.
Now for the important part – the afternoon tea
As you can see from the photo above, they certainly weren’t mean on the portion sizes!
Because this is especially for the Christmas season, there were some festive twists to the traditional afternoon tea.
The sandwich selection was salmon and creme cheese (my absolute fave) and turkey and cranberry which were delicious.
Now, onto the sweet selection. There were mince pies, stollen, swiss rolls, a sponge cake and scones with jam and cream. It was a lovely afternoon tea and everything was soooo tasty!
It was so peaceful, overlooking the Borrowdale valley, and so filling as well! Mum and I gave it a good go but it definitely beat us!
Let me know in the comments below what your favourite part of afternoon tea is!
