It’s December which means IT’S CHRISTMAS!!! Now, if you’re anything like me, you’ll have been watching Christmas films for the past month and already feeling festive. There’s nothing I love more that curling up with a hot chocolate, some snacks and fairy lights and watching christmas film after christmas film. They make me feel all cosy and warm inside and 100% ready for the big day.
There’s nothing which can boost my mood more than a good christmas film. There’s just something about them which is so heartwarming and really keeps the magic alive. Getting stuck into some snacks, whether thats some treeselets (which are amazing), some snowbites or a box of heroes, its the perfect way to spend a cold December afternoon.
So here are my favourite films to get into the Christmas spirit
Sit back, relax with a hot chocolate and all the toppings and get into the festive spirit
The Nativity! films are by far one of the best Christmas films. The first one is by far the best but I absolutely love them. I could watch them again and again and they never fail to make me smile. Martin Freeman dancing to Christmas songs is one of the best things to watch and the storyline is just too cute. In a way, it’s a very relatable story because we all remember doing the nativity at school and I think that underlying sentimentally really resonates with you when you watch it.
The Santa Clause
This is always the first Christmas film I watch every year and for as long as I can remember, it’s been a firm favourite. I don’t know what it is about this film but I find it so funny. It’s such a good family film which everyone can enjoy. When I was younger, I always wanted to be one of the elves and live at the North Pole!
The Christmas Prince
I watched this for the first time the other day and I’m not going to lie, I had pretty low expectations of this Netflix original BUT I adored it. It reminded me of the Princesses Diaries in a way and is such a heartwarming film with some stunning locations. Honestly, the palace is absolutely beautiful, especially as it’s decked out in christmas decorations.
I’m not a huge cartoon fan however Arthur Christmas is a hilarious, heartwarming film which makes me laugh so much. I love the fact that Hugh Laurie voices one of the characters as well, it makes me chuckle! It follows the Clause’s Christmas operation and it’s such a funny film. I first saw this in the cinema and got the DVD as soon as it came out because I needed to be able to watch it 24/7! (Plus, I like the fact that my dog is also called Arthur!)
Can you really have a christmas film list without talking about Elf? It’s a classic, and for good reason too. I relate to Buddy the elf maybe a bit too much but seeing his excitement for christmas and santa makes me feel even more excited than I am normally. Its one of those films which I can watch over and over and know that I’ll feel festive afterwards.
