Autumn is the perfect time for binge watching all the box sets you’ve missed. With the nights drawing in, there is no better exist to stay in with your fluffy PJ’s, a hot chocolate (or two) and watch all the box sets. Here are my top 10 autumn box sets which will give you all the autumn cosy vibes.
10 autumn box sets which will give you all the cosy autumn vibes
Lets be honest, Gilmore Girls has to be the most autumn/winter cosy show you can watch. Maybe it’s nostalgia, maybe it’s how much Lorelai and Rory love the seasons but this show is the ultimate autumn box set which you need to binge.
This Is Us
I am new to This Is Us. I don’t know how it’s taken me so long to watch it but WOW! It’s one of the best TV shows I’ve watched (and I have watched a lot of TV). The reason why I love it so much is that the characters are so rounded and developed and everyone gets their time to shine. Plus, the writing is incredible and I am yet to not cry at an episode.
If, like me, you were living under a rock and haven’t a clue what This Is Us is about, it’s about a family with triplets and their life. You jump time zones from before the children were born to them as adults and it really is phenomenal.
Okay, so Good Witch may not be everyone’s cup of tea BUT I find it to be one of the cosiest shows which is another embodiment of autumn. The reason I say it might not be for everyone is that it can be a bit sickly sweet as it’s Hallmark but I kinda love it.
The premise of the show is that it is set in a small American town and features Cassie who is very spiritual and seems to have a sixth sense about things. It basically follows her and her daughters life in the little town of Middleton. I think what I love most about this show is that nothing bad every really happens and it’s one of those feel good shows which you don’t have to concentrate too hard on!
The Bold Type
The Bold Type is not just for autumn and should be watched all year round! If you’re wanting to get the ultimate #GirlBoss motivation and feel good vibes, WATCH THIS SHOW.
I absolutely love how this show is all about female empowerment and female friendships and really deals with important issues which need to be talked about. The show covers topics such as sexual assault, immigration and racism to just name a few. It’s such a relevant show which I would argue is the new (and more relatable) Gossip Girl.
The Bold Type is about three women in their 20’s starting their career in the world of fashion magazines and shows them finding their feet in New York, their personal lives and their careers.
We all know that the best thing Netflix ever did (apart from giving us the gorgeous Noah Centineo in TWO films this summer) was put all the episodes of Friends on at the beginning of the year. I don’t even know how many times I’ve watched the show now (but I do know I managed to watch a season in a day!) but it never fails to given me the cosy vibes. There was no way I could do a post on autumn box sets and not include Friends!
I have a love/hate relationship with Riverdale. Sometimes I love it and could watch it all day, other times I feel like they’re dragging it out too much. However, I do think it’s a great show to binge watch on these colder nights.
Based on the Archie comics, the show is about Archie, Bettie, Jughead and Veronica and the mysterious town of Riverdale where, lets be honest, none of us would want to live because there are waaaay too many murders and strange goings on!
Ever since Doctor Who came back all those years ago with Christopher Eccleston, it has been one of my ultimate winter shows to watch. My doctor is 100% David Tennant and I feel like it has gone down hill a bit BUT I am excited for the new series coming!
I always like to watch the David Tennant era of Doctor Who when autumn comes, I just loved him as the Doctor! Who was you’re favourite doctor?
Hands up if you LOVE Queer eye and want the fab 5 come and make over your life 🙋🏻♀️ If you’re looking for feel good reality TV, then this is a must. I love a good makeover show but Queer Eye takes it to the next level.
What I love most about the show is that they never put people down. They always look for the positive aspects of people and enhance their lives rather than saying this is wrong, you need to do this.
Once Upon A Time
I’m kind of sad Once Upon A Time has finished BUT I’m also pleased because WOW it’s a long show! I’m actually going to go and rewatch because I kind of lost the show around the season 5 mark.
The reason I like this show is that it’s based on Disney and fairytale characters and who doesn’t love Disney? It’s very clever how they link all the different characters together and switch from the magic realm to the real world!
This is a show I was obsessed with over the summer however I think it’s a great one to watch this autumn! It’s a thriller mini-series on Netflix which is about a girl who goes missing. However, it is so much more than that and there are lots of twists and turns.
If your a fan of thrillers, this is the show for you!
After writing out my favourite autumn box sets, I’ve come to the conclusion that I like a lot of American TV! Don’t worry, I love my British TV too (especially The Bodyguard – who else is loving that show?)
